Our Editorial Policy

Whisker Wellness publishes practical guides on dog, cat, and small pet care. Because many of our articles touch on health, nutrition, and behavior, we hold our content to clear standards. This page explains who writes our articles, how they are produced, which sources we rely on, and how we keep them accurate over time.

Our Mission

Our goal is to help pet owners make better everyday decisions for their animals and arrive at every veterinary appointment better informed. We aim to explain topics clearly, point out when a situation needs professional attention, and stay honest about the limits of what general advice can do.

Who Writes Our Content

Whisker Wellness is run by Jeremy W., the founder and editor of the site. Jeremy is not a veterinarian. Every article is reviewed and approved by him before publication, and he is responsible for the content published on this site.

How Our Articles Are Created

We believe in being transparent about how our content is made. Our process works like this:

  1. Topic research: we start from the real questions pet owners ask and study what reputable veterinary organizations say about the subject.
  2. AI-assisted drafting: we use AI writing tools to help structure and draft articles. AI is a tool in our process, never the final word.
  3. Fact-checking: health, nutrition, and safety claims are checked against established veterinary sources, such as the ones listed below. Claims we cannot verify are removed.
  4. Human review and editing: Jeremy W. reviews, edits, and approves every article before it goes live, with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and safety.
  5. Ongoing updates: articles are revisited when guidelines change or when readers report an issue.

The Sources We Rely On

When we cover health, nutrition, or safety topics, we prioritize guidance from recognized veterinary and animal welfare organizations, including:

Many of our articles list their main references in a dedicated sources section at the end.

Updates and Corrections

We review our articles regularly and update them when veterinary guidance, products, or prices change. The date of the latest update is shown on our health, nutrition, and behavior articles.

Jeremy W.

I've spent my entire adult life around rescue animals. Today I share my home with two Schnauzer-mix siblings I adopted from Romania, they were on the euthanasia list the week I found them. Before starting Whisker Wellness, I spent several years as an active volunteer at animal shelters, working hands-on with intake animals, behavioral assessments, and owner education programs. That shelter experience taught me how large the gap is between what most people know about their pet's needs and what those animals actually need, and how costly that gap can be. Every article I write is built on that foundation: real-world experience, research cross-referenced against veterinary guidelines (WSAVA, AAFCO, AVMA), and a commitment to honesty about what non-veterinary advice can and cannot do. I am not a veterinarian. Whisker Wellness does not replace professional veterinary care. What it does is help you make better day-to-day decisions for your animals and arrive at every vet appointment better informed.
